The rating assigned each concept estimates how useful the concept as a whole would be in cross-language comparisons.
Each concept can have multiple exponents, shown as multiple lines in the tables. Under each:
- Pron - pronunciation of the root, in IPA.
- C1 - the first consonant of the root (or first vowel, if root has no consonant)
- Place - distance of C1 from lips, on scale 0 to 10
- Rejected? - was this word/pronunciation discarded due to undesirable attributes?
- Motiv - how likely is this to be a motivated (onomatopoetic, sound symbolic) word, scaled 0 to 1?
- Deriv - how likely is this to be derived from some other word, i.e., that the root itself has a different meaning, scaled 0 to 1?
- Redundant - how many other words in this list does this share the same root with?
The purpose of this file is to show what materials have been extracted for comparison. Often the source XML file will give more details motivating the choices.
